Centre for Women in Business Receives Funding, Halifax, NS: ACOA Announces Support for Centre
The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of State for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), announced a total of nearly $3 million in support for Nova Scotia’s University Business Development Centres (UBDCs), and for investments under the Women In Business Initiative.
As one of five University Business Development Centres (UBDCs) in Nova Scotia, the Centre received $430,507 to support the core activities of the Centre for a period of two years.
The total funding for Women In Business Initiative (WBI) program delivery through the Centre for Women in Business is $381,238. The WBI investments include a Business Counselling and Community Outreach Program to offer enhanced one-on- one support to women-owned businesses in Nova Scotia. The program is administered by the Centre for Women in Business.
As well, the Business Management Training Allowance Program is administered in Halifax Regional Municipality by the Centre for Women In Business, and provides 75% of costs up to $2,000 for women business owners to take business management training. The program is delivered in rural Nova Scotia by the Community Business Development Corporations of Nova Scotia (CBDCs).
