Looking for Females to participate in PMS/Bipolar StudyWednesday, January 8 2014
Study Title: "Brain correlates of emotional regulation in bipolar women with premenstrual exacerbation."
There is evidence that women with bipolar disorder and a severe form of PMS, known as premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) have a worse course of their illness: they suffer from more frequent and severe episodes and may require hospitalization. This study is a brain imaging study that uses fMRI to track the differences in brain activation patterns as well as hormone levels between women with bipolar disorder and PMDD during two phases of the menstrual cycle.
We are looking for women ages 18 - 45:
With or without a history of PMDD
With or without a history of bipolar disorder
Inclusion: Participants must have regular periods (between 25-35 days) and not be on any form of hormonal contraceptive (if recently off, must be at least 3 months).
Upon completion, participants will be compensated for their commitment.
