Seeking Research Participants for Study of LGBTQ Youth who were in Care

Information from School of Social Work, Ryerson University:


The goal of this project is to increase public awareness of the issues faced by LGBTQ youth in care and help child welfare and youth justice

facilities better serve this group.


If you are:

•             Aged 18 to 29 years,

•             Identified as Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Two-spirit, Transgender, Intersex, or on the Queer spectrum, and were

•             In the residential care of child welfare or youth justice as a youth (age 18 or younger)

you may qualify to be part of this research project.


This research seeks to understand your experiences in residential care (e.g., group homes, foster care, open/closed custody, youth jail, etc.) under the child welfare and/or youth justice as a LGBTQ youth.
