University of Lethbridge Daycare ActionWednesday, December 14 2011
On behalf of the University of Lethbridge Daycare Action committee, we are writing your organization/individual members to request a letter of support for our efforts.
The University of Lethbridge is the only university in Alberta without on-campus child care facilities, and stands alone even among the province's largest colleges (Grant MacEwan in Edmonton; Mount Royal in Calgary, and Lethbridge Community College) in still not offering on-campus child care services.
The Daycare Action Committee is currently organizing toward a December 21st Board of Governors' meeting, in which the child care issue will be heard by the Board. A positive result is expected if we can demonstrate significant community support for the initiative. We are therefore requesting a letter of support from your organization, on your organization's letterhead. You may say whatever you like in the letter, but we have attached a sample for quick reference. Feel free to use all, some, or none of the attached suggestions.
Letters of support are being collected at the University of Lethbridge Students' Union (contact information is listed below). DAC will use the letters in an upcoming media event and at the Board of Governors' meeting itself – it is therefore a public letter and your organization should be aware that we may reference your name in the public domain.
We thank you for your attention to this matter. As we work through this important campaign for equity and the public interest at the University of Lethbridge, we appreciate the support of organizations like yours.
